About the Event
Born and raised in the Pineywoods of East Texas, Nacogdoches native Cole Stephens had a love of music and guitars from a very young age. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather who sang gospel music and toured around the Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas areas, Cole sang in church and found a passion for music.
In high school, Cole fell in love with the Texas Country Music scene and frequented honky-tonks to see his favorite artists play, such as Muscadine Bloodline, Aaron Watson, Josh Abbott, Cody Johnson, Parker McCollum, and Koe Wetzel. Cole was raised listening to southern gospel, 80’s rock, and all varieties of country music. Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Kenney Chesney, Metallica, Bon Jovi, John Mayer, Van Halen, and Cross Canadian Ragweed are among his favorites.
After the loss of his childhood home to a fire in 2020, Cole turned to his guitar to find enjoyment and release. He began to write his own songs to tell the stories about his experiences . Cole recorded his first three songs, including “Bonfire,“ the summer after graduation. One week before he left for Baylor University, he got the opportunity to open for Joey Greer at Banita Creek Hall. He was hooked the moment he took the stage!
Since his release of “I Could Use Some Rain” and “Bonfire” in April 2022, Cole has released eight more singles, showcasing his growth as an artist. Four of these were written or arranged by Cole.
Cole has opened for artists Dylan Scott, The Oak Ridge Boys, Tyler Halverson, Lane Smith, Joey Greer, Jon Stork, and the legendary Tracy Byrd, gracing stages at iconic Texas venues like, Banita Creek Hall, the Dosey Doe, Love and War in Texas and Old Coupland Hall.
Cole has his sights set high over the next year with new music coming soon. He is currently working on writing songs for his first EP and gaining a larger presence on social media.
